The Maryland English Institute (MEI) at the University of Maryland teaches English to speakers of other languages, and has served students from 77 different countries, representing 44 different languages. I worked with MEI to redesign their website in order to increase enrollment, provide more accurate and accessible information about the Institute, and better engage site visitors. MEI’s previous website was hard to navigate and find information, and the advanced language level used made it difficult for potential English-language students to understand.
The new website engages and informs potential students, uses language that is easy to understand, and conveys a sense of high energy and dignified fun. This website was developed in WordPress and includes the following features:
- A responsive design that adapts to fit multiple screen sizes
- Photo & video galleries
- Google translate integration
- Full social media integration
